For many learners, myself included, the most powerful lessons are learned in discussing problems and solutions encountered first hand.
With a focus on creating blended learning environments, I am committed to learning in and through the real world where making is required less of the solitary genius but rather of teams, groups, organisations, networks, systems and communities.
Working with others fosters a collaborative mindset and helps to break the myth of the sole genius artist. Despite the division of labour that comes with collaborative work that may see one person working alone on a part they are especially good at, there is a common goal that contributes to the whole.
Even if one is a superb designer, design is an inexact science and not all of her ideas will always be the perfect solution. Group work also cultivates an iterative creation process, and good designs can be improved with each group member’s new addition and rework.
